Graduation Requirements for Baldwin High School

Students must complete two units of study of World Languages by the end of 9th grade. They must pass the course in order to apply the unit of credit toward graduation requirements.

5 required Regents Exams with a score of 65 or better as follows:
1 math, 1 science, 1 Social Studies, ELA and 1 pathway assessment

- OR - 

4 Required exams with a score of 65 or better as follows:  1 math, 1 science, 1 ELA, 1 Social Studies and meet all CDOS requirements 

To earn a Regents diploma with honors, a student needs to have an average score of 90 or higher on all Regents examinations required for the Regents diploma (no rounding up is permitted). These Regents examinations are as follows:

• Comprehensive English 
• Mathematics 
• Science
• 1 Social Studies 
  - and - 
• 1 Pathway or CDOS assessment

• Pathway Combination: (other than STEM), ELA,1 Social Studies, 3 Mathematics, 2 Science (1 life science, 1 physical science), AND either 1 Pathway (other than math or science) or meet the CDOS requirements, TOTAL= 7 or 8 assessments
• STEM (Mathematics) Pathway Combination: ELA,1 Social Studies, 4 Mathematics, 2 Science (1 life science, 1 physical science), TOTAL= 8 assessments
• STEM (Science) Pathway Combination: ELA,1 Social Studies, 3 Mathematics, 3 Science (1 life science, 1 physical science), TOTAL= 8 assessments
• Finally—in addition, student must pass a checkpoint B World Language local exam (FLACS) or complete a 5-unit sequence in the Arts or CTE 

To earn a Regents diploma with advanced designation with honors, a student needs to have an average score of 90 or higher on all Regents examinations required for that advanced diploma (no rounding up is permitted). The advanced diploma requires all examinations for the Regents diploma and two additional mathematics Regents Exams and one additional science Regents Exam (one in physical science/the other in life science). 

Note: The locally developed Checkpoint B LOTE* examination is not included in the computed average.

Meets all assessment requirements for the Regents diploma with advanced designation and, in addition, scores 85 or better on each of 3 Regents examinations in mathematics.

Meets all assessment requirements for the Regents diploma with advanced designation and, in addition, scores 85 or better on each of 3 Regents examinations in science.

• For eligible students there are other options available such as a Local Diploma, a CDOS credential and a SACC credential.
• Your guidance counselor will explain these options if these apply to you.
• There is a detailed appeals process for students who meet requirements outlined by the NYSED in order to obtain a Regents or Local Diploma.
• The Local Diploma remains available to all students with disabilities provided they earn a score of 55-64 on one or more required Regents examinations.
• Furthermore, there are other criteria that can be fulfilled for a local diploma.

Students who transfer to a New York State school for the first time in grades 11 or 12 and have either one or two Regents examination(s) waived, may receive a Regents diploma with honors or a Regents diploma with advanced designation with honors. The requirements to receive a high school diploma with honors remain the same, except with a fewer number of required Regents examinations and with appropriate annotations on transcripts and permanent records.
