Fine and Performing Arts at Baldwin UFSD
Baldwin Union Free School District takes great pride in its unwavering dedication to fostering artistic talent. We offer a comprehensive and award-winning K-12 curriculum that encompasses visual and performing arts to foster significant aesthetic growth.
At the elementary level, students receive instruction in music and art, with the opportunity to engage in small group lessons on band and orchestral instruments, typically commencing in the fourth grade.
The secondary program is structured to equip students with optimal readiness for higher education and careers within the arts, providing a range of electives and performance platforms. Students in middle and high school continue their artistic and musical education, with access to elective courses and Advanced Placement (AP) options. They are encouraged to participate in various musical groups and art-related clubs.
Noteworthy achievements include consistent participation in adjudicated festivals, where our bands, orchestras, and choruses excel. For instance, the Baldwin High School Wind Symphony was awarded a “Gold with Distinction” at the NYSSMA Major Organization Festival. Baldwin students frequently earn invitations to the All-State Festival and receive recognition as Long Island Scholar-Artists. The artistic creations of our students are showcased in prestigious exhibitions, such as the Art Supervisors Association All County Art Exhibition.
