Academies & School2Career

The mission of the Baldwin Union Free School District is to support students’ academic, social and moral growth to foster lifelong commitment to learning, and to encourage responsible contributions to society.  Although there is a lot to be explored inside our classrooms, Baldwin Union Free School District believes that experiential learning can help bring the theorized practices learned in the classroom to life. With this mission in mind, our school community has several opportunities available to all students within the district for work-based learning under the umbrella of “School2Career.”

Whether it is mentorship, internships or through the district’s award winning Academic Academies, students will develop an entrepreneurial spirit with regards to their own academic, personal, social, vocational and civic future. Under this framework, students will construct essential questions for exploration, explore authentic workplace problems and solutions, and develop projects that will give back to the community, all with the guidance of the teachers, administrators and staff members within Baldwin schools, as well as accomplished mentors from the community. Education is a journey, and at Baldwin, we believe that students are the captains of their own pedagogical voyages.
