Baldwin Herald Covers Baldwin High School Senior

Baldwin Herald Covers Baldwin High School Senior

Baldwin High School senior Fahiem Jenkins has been selected as a finalist in BroadwayWorld’s Student Reporter Program, a competition recognizing excellence in student journalism.

If chosen as the winner, Jenkins will serve as a co-host for The Roger Rees Awards pre-show and represent the Greater New York region in The Jimmy Awards national student reporter search.

As part of the program, Jenkins participated in an online masterclass and virtual press conference in February, connecting with professionals in the theater industry. The masterclass was led by BroadwayWorld Editor-in-Chief Nicole Rosky and Managing Editor Chloe Rabinowitz, who introduced finalists to the fundamentals of entertainment journalism, including reporting techniques and interviewing strategies.

Jenkins and other finalists also took part in a virtual press conference with Broadway performers, asking questions about their work and gaining insight into the industry. The experience contributed to a feature story assignment required of all finalists.

Organizers said the program offers students hands-on experience that blends journalism, theater and professional mentorship.
